What I got from your opening post was that George should have comforted her in that moment. Which I don't agree with.

I see it like this: For Meredith, who has openly had one ons after the other (there's nothing wrong with that), "slept through europe", having sex seems to be just having fun. Then you have on the other side George, who has not that much of experience and is not really self-confident and totally into her. For him sex is still intimacy you share with someone special and not just having fun.

So now the two of them have sex, for Mer it's having fun as usual, for him it's obviously a lot more. And then she starts to cry. This completely crushes a guy like George. "After all these years, she never cared, how disgusting am I that she even starts to cry", would be, what I'd imagine went through his head in that moment.

Expecting hit to comfort her in that state is just too much in my opinion.

I understand that people can change their mind, and that's okay. And it would be a different story if she told him the next day, Goerge this was a mistake, we should keep distance for some time.

However, I agree with you for what you sad about George after that night. This shows again how fickle he is. With berating or whatever he does with/to Meredith for that he's wrong. The best thing would have been to keep a distance for some time instead of this.
