The thing is, only the self interested ones would get elected. The NRA will actively fund the campaign of the opponent if they support gun control, and then that opponent gets elected. It’s a hydra, cut one head off, a new one grows back.

To really defeat it, you have to attack the source: the NRA. You have to create an association that’s more powerful and well funded than them, an anti-gun association for example. Whenever a Republican candidate supports guns, the anti-gun association will donate millions to their opponent (could be another Republican who’s anti-guns).

The NRA has an annual budget of 250 million dollars. Imagine that. If we all pooled together more than 250 million dollars (a measly amount), we could fund anti-gun Republicans and change this forever.
