In less than 10 years Aceh, Kalimantan, Indonesia Timur, Papua, and Kalimantan would be declaring their independence, wouldn't it?. Who knows. nobody could predict.

Ethnic discrimination against Chinese Indonesians has been sustained from hundreds of years ago and have resulted episodic massacres. Such scale has not been experienced by any of indigenous people of Aceh, Kalimantan, Papua. In fact, Jokowi's commitment to develop these regions would result in huge decrease of ethnic frictions. I would predict that the declaration of independence of these regions would be very much minimized.

In contrast, Jokowi (or other presidents for that matter) has done jack squat in real terms to fix the discrimination issues experienced by Chinese Indonesians. Sure that the discriminatory laws have been abrogated, but there is no positive steps to ensure that 1965 / 1998 massacres wouldn't happen again. In fact, there is no efforts whatsoever from the government to dismantle the much maligned stereotypes of Chinese Indonesians. There is no education that all ethnicity, including Chinese Indonesians, contributed to the struggle of independence.
