So my dog went missing and I couldn't find her, this was about 9pm. I looked for her until about 11pm.

I called animal control, they were closed. Their voice mail said to call the police non emergency number. I called the non emergency number, they were closed and their message said to call 911.

I called 911 and apologized for calling about a non emergency but asked if any officers had picked up a dog that evening as mine was missing. She asked if I was calling from a cell phone and I said yes, and then a text message popped in with a picture of my dog riding in the front seat of a police car (bunch of radios in the middle). I told her that was in fact my dog and she had the police deliver her home.

It turns out the police saw her walking down the middle of the street, and he stopped and called her she came right up. She spent an hour riding around in the car on patrol. If I had not called she was going to animal control on his lunch break.

She is microchipped, but wasnt wearing an ID on her collar be because I can't stand the jingling. She now has an ID tag that is part of the collar vs hanging down.
