Mid 30's stay at home hubby with no kids.
Ended up getting laid off from my last job while going on medical leave about 4 years ago. Fought a lawsuit, settled this year for an ok amount of money and fought with disability the whole time and just got notified that I have another check coming for over 4 years of owed disability with payments of 1k a month from then on. We used the initial lump sum as a downpayment on a foreclosed home and our mortgage on a 2000sqft home will be less than the 500sqft we have now as a rental. Counting the new payments, we're our house for free. Only 2 more weeks.
My days though? With the medical conditions I have, I must move around and rest frequently. I'm either laying or I'm walking around. I make sure my wife doesn't have to do anything around the house. I do the cooking, the cleaning, keep myself exercised by doing long walks with my dogs, laundry, shopping, and so on. This year I kept a small garden with a bumper crop of cherry tomatoes.
I don't drive anymore and bus when I have to. I get motion sickness easily so I have to time the day I do it. I've hopped off several busses in the last year to puke. Once I get into the new house I'll be working on my handyman skills some more. We have floors to install, walls to patch and paint, landscaping to do, and I'll have 4 times as much space to clean. At least I'll have a dishwasher.
Generally speaking I rest for 2 hours after I get up in the morning while I have coffee, and then I take my dogs for a 40 minute walk. Then 30 minutes rest. Then 30 minutes housework. I rest and alternate my way throughout the day like that. Some days it's more rest, occasionally I can go at it for hours and then I pay for it the next day.
I just try to make my wife's life easier. Wait on her hand and foot as well as I can. Make food she likes and eat my tongue when I get feedback I don't agree with. Trying for hubby of the year award over here. :-D
