I don't know what your circumstances are, or what country you're in. However, just off the top of my head:
Why not join an aid/volunteer organisation? Lots of these have projects in other parts of the world. Maybe you have skills that they can use? Do some good at the same time?
Cruise ships take people on all the time I hear. Depends on your skills set, naturally, but if you're clean and well presented I don't see what's stopping you from getting a waitering/kitchen job or whatever.
Check with your local ports/embassies etc. These are the people that deal with other countries. What are your language abilities? Perhaps you could use that in another country as an interpreter or as part of a tour group?
You could get work on a container ship - probably back breaking work, but you'll get to travel a bit I'd imagine. I hear the pay isn't bad either. Just make sure that you do your research and don't get onto a floating brothel or something to be sold in Thailand. I'm only half joking. Check with the companies that are closest to you and send through a well presented C.V. Ships of all sorts need staff of all sorts. Be enthusiastic and be clear that you are willing to pay your own expenses to get wherever the embarkation point is. Be careful to deal direct and not through these shady 'work on a ship' companies that scam you. And never, ever, give up your i.d papers or stuff like that to anyone for safekeeping until you are sure that the company is totally legit.
Do a crowdfunding campaign and ask people to fund your travels. Ask them to challenge you to do something audacious and film it. I've always wanted to take letters around the world, from people who have been long out of touch and who are not connected to the web. That would be the coolest thing ever. You'd be amazed how many countries have little or no interwebs and very spotty snail mail. Also, after all those years, people move. Why not track them down and enjoy their tears of joy when they get that letter? This is MY idea, I just want to state that. You can use it though. If you make millions I expect a commission.
