This shit proves they were never "heroes"; if they're willing to let innocent people get hurt just because they feel they've been disrespected. It proves they were in it for the power trip, not because they care about protecting the community.

I just think it's very short-sighted to say on a whole, our society doesn't need governmental policing, in it's current state. You may have dedicated a part of your life to develope survival and self-defense skills, but other people certainly haven't. Until we get to a place in our culture where everyone takes self-defense just as seriously as you do, the police are just a necessary evil. People would die without it.

But even if we did get to that point, I'm still not convinced people can be trusted enough to respect the rights and liberties of their neighbors. Look at countries like Yemen or Somalia, where their weak governments can't control their own citizens. Obviously there are countless geopolitical factors and even the governments themselves are corrupt but that to me just shows how horrible of a species we can be. I just don't think the libertarian wet dream of a free state exists (I may be jumping the boat a bit by assuming that's how far you take it so i apologize if that's not at all what you believe)
