I used to live in Knoxville for years and almost moved to Wilmington last summer. Seems like the two cities are having similar issues with being “discovered” and having a bunch of people suddenly move in. Rent went up drastically in Knoxville in the past year, I suspect the same in Wilmington. Something that kept me from moving to Wilmington was the reality that it’s probably gonna be changing a lot within the next few years and unfortunately I think for the worse (higher cost of living, crowded beaches, lack of parking, etc.). I hope I’m wrong and the city manages the influx of newcomers well but don’t be surprised if you want to leave after a few years.
