Shows to watch on Amazon Prime?

The Americans

I recommend this. I wouldn't call it an amazing viewing experience show to show, but it's had its memorable moments. Both the depiction of the Cold War era and its acting immerse the audience and make it watchable, but the reason I recommend watching is based on two other things.

First, it's been renewed something like 2 seasons ahead to its completion which is a very good sign, and second, the development of the characters and the plot seem to be in a perfect sweet spot of lifting the entire show from beginning to end to a whole new level. In this respect it reminds me of Breaking Bad, but The Americans is breaking a bit later. They're either going to nail or fail the next 2 seasons, but if they nail it I think the entire thing becomes something of a masterpiece.

It's mainly drama, character development, and intrigue with a side of action and intimacy, but it appears every character development the show lingers on will ultimately yield a fulfilling finish. Especially in this latest season, character developments which were previous bored are elevated to a new level, and I think The Americans in its last 2 seasons is going to be an investment in viewing which will pay off a whole lot more than the alluring distraction it started as.
