I am a grad student in chemistry and always smell a certain specific way when I am working in front of my hood all day (using a schlenck line pulling vacuum and purging with nitrogen , so it’s not anything from that [i think]). It’s like a dry sweetness, like baby powder but different, dryer. It happens too after a day in the clean room or synchrotron, different smells, but that makes more sense because of the total immersion in those atmospheres. Whereas at the hood, it’s just pulling lab air by me, and the smell doesn’t happen when I am just working in lab. So weird.. please help us Reddit, my lab mates and I are at a total loss.. thanks!
