Sniper Shoots Gun Out Of Perps Hand Instead Of Killing Him

Yes. Human beings have instinct. Yes, I would like to solve all problems with polite discourse. But here in reality, the small slice of the worst kind end up in my ER. And I doubt it will help to inform them of how their defensive-but-really-assaultive behavior is really just a circumstance of evolution and tribalism and we should really just "work to overcome."

On the other side, I've taken down people who tried to hit me who later told the police, "he deserved it," as if that makes it okay. Byt the way I see it? If I can look at someone I think is the scum of the earth and not punch them for it, even after I put them in a safe, non-injuring compliance hold, then this person had no excuse.

See, this is why I usually avoid discussing this kind of thing in mainstream discussion forums. Rather than approach the situations on a case-by-case basis, people will generalize away any reasonable use of force as being excessive, often resorting to false equivocation to avoid admitting that any UoF might be justified. "Bad cops exist, therefore any use of self defense by a man in uniform is excessive."

Or in this case, I'm being called primitive in a roundabout way.

Or in this case, it's a whataboutism, and I'm instantly compared to a "bad cop" for not waiting until a felony has been committed before I act.

Show me to a planet without violence and I will cut off my arms to live there.
