Snoonet owner bans #techsupport over a minor slight, network admins get mad at him, one of them end up spilling the beans and revealing that he logged all the private messages for 1 month just to find people who were trash talking him and ban them.

Ah, I'm so glad the air about this shitty network is coming out. [disclosure: I'm a former Snoonet admin]

rdv for the longest time has been on a power trip. He thought he was big and bad when he was a irl cop, but ever since he was fired for abuse he's been flexing his power over Snoonet. Probably because that's the only thing he can wake up and look forward to.

I still have logs sitting on my hard drive of when they were using m_pretenduser, a module where you can perform actions in context of a user. It was mostly used for trolling purposes, but it's a major violation of user trust.

I've been running my own network before being staff there, and it still exists despite numerous attempts by rdv to smear it. It's still hard to compete against them and their sphere of influence when new communities look towards IRC, but at least I've found a mutual aid in stopping their expansion: Discord. It's damaging to me as well, but at least rdv gets less power.

Snoonet is also being funded by PrivateInternetAccess (1, 2), which has recently started investing in IRC for unknown purposes. There's no clear answer on what they expect to get as a return on investment, but I would guess user data or some form of user statistics. I don't trust it.

rdv runs around saying that I quit being staff or I was fired for some bullshit reason, but the truth is that I took a hiatus and never returned. He decided to strip the powers of several opers and downgrade their status, and I wasn't really having any of that. Paradox did his best to help me out, but rdv always gets his way. At least on Snoonet.
