I'm really not though. The vast majority of European universities require it the first year (if you want a 4 year track). Plenty of them take it in high school even.

As for MIT, you're right, it's not required first year but it is the second year. And there are universities below MIT where it's recommened first year and required second year.

It's not a huge jump from this to say that you can't survive math.

That's not how competitive advantage works. Nothing "requires" competitive advantage

If the hours of studying needed is greater than the hours of studying you could do we have "requires".
