What are bad reasons to do a PhD?

Do you know of a place in the woods that I can go live for six months that will provide me with food and mental health support while I find myself? I'm not a great cook, and definitely inexperienced with hunting or foraging. It would also be nice if I can be paid ~$15/hour while I'm there. Savings and retirement accounts don't build themselves!

Also, can you expand on what the difference is between finding a PhD personally fulfilling, and not wanting to do anything else? If all I wanted was to feel fulfilled, there are surely less painful ways to go about that. Maybe something like LARPing as a monk in the woods for six months.

Can you provide an example of balanced passion?
