About 11 years ago I bought a "high end" 2.1 system (Edifier S730) for my gaming PC with a "studio grade" PCI-E soundcard (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD).
This setup required 2x RCA cables (R+W) from PC to Subwoofer to work.
Since I bought "high end" sound equipment, I figured it would be best to also buy "high end" RCA cables.
So I got some chunky and heavy duty RCA cables that cost quite a lot (relatively anyway, RCA cables were/are cheap).
Whilst that PC, sound card, and speakers are now gone, I've kept the chunky RCA cables. I still use them today, they work flawlessly still. Where all my other cheap/average cables (skinny cheap RCA, USB, optical, ethernet, etc.) have all kicked the bucket.
Long story short: Buying good quality cables has saved me money in the long run.
