Someone explain to me what's so bad about Destiny 2.

For the record I'm enjoying it. But I suspect it has a lot to do with the following...

The developers, Bungie, made a bunch of significant changes between Destiny 1 and Destiny 2. We're talking major changes to the endgame, slower movement speed, weapons load out options, and then a bunch of little stuff. I believe that if it was just one or two changes in a vacuum, people would have had an easier time dealing with it. But when you add them all up, it feels - for many - like a completely different game.

Bungie also has a pretty good track record of listening to the community even if people on these forums don't want to admit it. But part of that means listening to players who didn't enjoy the first game and ultimately Bungie decided to create a sequel that had a lower barrier of entry for people. For players who played Destiny 1 for hundreds of hours and defended the franchise, it can feel a little underwhelming and a little insulting to have such a simplified approach. Maybe insulting is too harsh of a word... betrayed is probably more accurate.

But at this point, it's starting to feel like just salt for the sake of salt. Some people seem to spend a lot of time here complaining about a game that they don't enjoy which is weird to me.

True Destiny veterans know that this is nothing new though. The cycle is always the same; a bunch of people jump on the hype train before the game is released, a bunch of people plow through the game as fast as they possibly can and ruin LFG for everyone with their ridiculous nonsense, those same people come to the forums to start complaining about having nothing to do, we all have to sit through a few months of salt and complaining, those people leave vowing never to come back, the people who actually enjoy the game are having a great time because all those hype train fair weather fans move on to ruin the next thing because they've never created anything in their lives and all they do is shit on other people, and then Bungie announces new content.
