The thing is, M9 always was invested in community, because they had inherently strong drive to just "explore". Both the setting they were given, and eachother frankly. And so many of their out of party built relationships across Wildmount: Pumat, Kiri, Yussah, Orly, Essek, came from very drive. Hell, as a minor one, Bryce from Allfield is a character they bonded with in one of their earliest adventures; then went out of their way to revisit on their way back to Felderwind; and entrusted with the care of Luc and Edith for quite some time. And I'd be lying if I said BHs I could think of anyone even Bryce levels of bonding left atm, with their burning of relations with Joe and with Estheross's death.

As for Home. M9 liked hanging out the Xhorhouse, but they never felt fully safe there. Similar to how they're comfort spot in the Empire was Zadash, and would always make it a point to frequent there when passing through. But their "home" ultimately was the Menagerie Coast and Nicodranas, even if they didn't have a physical "House" there. It held Jester's Mother; Yeza, Luc, and Nugget; Caleb's mentor (and first teleportation circle), and was the home port for Fjord's BallEater. Which is thematically why Ikithon's attack on the Chataeu was such a big deal, and sent them into such a panic. Their "port in the storm" had been stormed. BHs doesn't have that sort of place. No "port" where Home resides. And that's because they've built no real relations with any locals or their peoples.
