[Spoilers C3E51] Enjoy the pain.

Ah yes, here come all the counter posts telling people they're wrong for how they feel and to just suck it up and continue watching.

The fact that you feel this way means that you just witnessed good and effective storytelling.

This is the biggest falsehood I could imagine, and a crock of condescending bullshit that assumes you know more about these adult human beings than they know about themselves. Something making you feel bad does not mean it was effective. Game of Thrones made a lot of people feel bad, and I don't think people would argue it's more effective for it.

But just as you can't argue with the author of a book

You quite literally can. It's called critique, and it's a perfectly valid and healthy way to engage with media. If you take umbrage with a narrative decision, that doesn't mean you're wrong or "need to practice humility". It means you disagree with a narrative decision, and as long as you articulate in a way that isn't attacking someone, then there's no problem with it.

Just sit with the pain and enjoy it. Instead of arguing about the events in "DM mode", accept that you got to witness a story told by someone else.

No. Don't tell people to not have opinions just because you don't agree with them.
