[Spoilers] New Companion Announcement Megathread

Seeing the new companion and how hard I cringed made me finally wake up and realize. I'm no longer a fan of this show. Doctor Who has been my favorite thing ever ever since the '05 return. I loved DW more than any other media I have ever encountered. It spoke to me in an extremely touching and profound way. However the last few season have gradually torn down my love until there is nothing left. I feel the blame lies most with Moffat. His arrogance and absurd need to create a spectacle has stripped Doctor Who of all that which made it beautiful, special, and wonderful. The episodes descended from being spectacularly woven sci-fi epics to these paltry little distractions that seem to be build around "cool" ideas rather than worrying about a cohesive narrative. They stopped explaining anything. It became all about these sad deus ex machina plot devices to keep things moving. I loved Matt Smith's era. I feel like back then Moffat was reined in by other people who kept the Who being Who, but as it progressed he has fewer and fewer people to stop him. Similar to how George Lucas butchered Star Wars by having no one to keep him in check with the prequels. Clara was and is the worst companion I have ever seen. So utterly forced and terrible. Capaldi is just not right for the part. They both could have been made to work if there had been a competent showrunner hiring better writers and directors. I can hardly believe how bad some of the episodes we've gotten have been.

Moffat destroyed Doctor Who and is now leaving us with a companion whose only purpose seems to be topping Clara is being unlikable. I'm so sad that this is where we ended up. I'd rather see the show end than continue as it has for the past few years. What a complete and utter disaster. As far as I'm concerned Doctor Who ended with 11 and even that is being generous because I think we all know his last season wasn't very strong.

Goodbye, Doctor Who. It was fun while it lasted.
