One of my best friends growing up had a pretty rough home life. His mother was killed when he was 4, his dad was a drug addict and they all lived in his grandpa's house. Right out of highschool he started living with me at my dad's house so he could escape and try to set himself up. He met and girl during this time and got her pregnant. Once the baby was born he tried his best to be a good father, but she wouldn't let him do anything with his son. He was always buying toys, food and supplies to drop off at her house just so he could see him even for a minute. I went with him once to go meet him and she was incredibly rude and kicked us out after taking all the gifts. One day I came home from work and he was acting really off. Turns out she up and left the state with his son and left no information so he couldn't see him again. We went on a multiple hour walk through the city to talk and stopped at a baseball field around 2 am and just sat on the bleachers. This is we're he broke down and couldn't stop crying. I just held him in a hug for upwards of 10 minutes trying to comfort him until he calmed down enough to go back home. It really breaks your heart seeing someone who had such a rough life trying so hard and getting shut down like that.
