Stuck between two very different job offers, looking for advice.

I’m probably sounding like a broken record on this sub, but I’m my experience I worked a decent paying job for about a decade before I got into fire. I saved a lot of money and put a lot of it into investments. When I finally decided to quit my job and pursue fire I felt very comfortable taking a low paying job knowing that I have a very decent cushion and a good jump on my Roth, and other investments. This let me enjoy the job a lot more than others I see struggle grinding to survive.

You’re setup in a even better position, not only are you making decent money, you’re also getting some relevant experience. So if you do decide you need to hop into a full time fire job you can already come in a few grades higher and hopefully have a nice cushion of money to ease the pain of such a pay decrease. That sounds like a win/win man.

Resignation letter in. Doing some light reading during some stand by work. When I first got into wildland I was told to read up on major past incidents and this book was one of my first I read. I'm sure this is something a lot of first years would have heard during your first weeks of training. Daily tip from a line-medic; mustard packets & medi-lyte both contain electrolytes. However, mustard doesn't reach the blood stream for muscle use effectively & Medi-lyte has not been proven by the FDA. Use them, but don't rely on them exclusively. Questions from a hopeful rookie.
