This summer has been a scorcher...

When I first started working here, I thought I was getting lucky assignments. I was so used to taking care of obese patients in North Florida that I didn’t even realize that that wasn’t normal. Now I’m used to healthy weight people and not sure I can ever go back! It’s the same in Colorado.

That said, the homeless population here is OUT OF CONTROL. It’s nothing like I’ve ever seen anywhere else. The homeless people are next level, too. We regularly discharge them to the street (I had a hard time doing that at first bc it was a huge no-no at my old facility for liability reasons).

As frustrating as the homeless situation is, I think I’d still take them over the 300+lb bariatric patients. They’re just easier to care for nursing wise (much of the time).
