"The Swedish way of selling alcohol is somewhat different. But it saves about 2000 lives annually."

Availability, including deliveries, location and opening hours

That's far from guaranteed, on the contrary. Sweden like most countries does not have the population density to run mega liquor stores in a competitive climate maybe bar the few odd big cities and the few odd stores. The reality for most small towns would be a very narrow selection. More box wines and domestic beers and less of the good stuff. Much like the selection in our small grocery stores around the country. Even our supermarkets are pretty fucking limited.

You could circumvent this problem with online stores but when all is said and done with shipping costs the prices would nullify any type of price reduction from competition. And for a normally functioning human being it's not more convenient than popping into the store and physically buying your stuff. For basement dwellers maybe, but not for the vast majority.

Pricing, there's no competition

Also not true. Systembolaget buys in massive quantities and sell them without profit goals. Yes our alcohol is expensive but that's due to tax and VAT which goes right back into your pockets one way or the other and is not going to magically disappear if they're allowed to sell whiskey at ICA. Since it's taxed per volume and alcohol percentage it also a bigger hit on the cheaper liquor. That's why I assumed you were a bum. The pricing isn't really that much of an issue percentage wise unless you opt for the really cheap products.

The rules regarding how they approve new products

Fair enough.

Owned and operated by the state

Again not a problem unless you are a hardcore night-watchman state proponent who doesn't see any use in some socialist regulations and institutions (see; retard).

Anything else?
