That’s a big dark tattoo so yes I believe it can be done with out fading the existing tattoo first but I am sure you will see a little bit of the old tattoo underneath. I’m talking from experience (I’ve had two coverups). Make sure this is what you want though…laser removal is no joke. I’ve had two coverups and I regret them so much. Also after years go by and the cover up fades with age and the sun, the old tattoo sometimes starts to peek thru so think hard about this. If you decide that this is what you want 100% maybe get two or three sessions of laser removal done first on the existing tattoo and then proceed with the coverup. Tattoo artists don’t always have you’re best interest and see things from a different perspective than the client and then it ends up being not what you expected so be careful.
