Teachers who quit, when was the moment you realized that it wasn't for you?

Not me but my wife. She was an adjunct professor at our local college. She is a lawyer but wanted to do something part time to be with the kids more. Off the bat adjunct teachers get paid crap. So she made about $5000 per semester. (All told we were losing money in babysitting) I make enough money and was fine without her making much.

There were a lot of issues. Lazy kids that wouldn't complete assignments or show up to class then ask for extra credit right before the final. The worst was probably the plagiarism and the lack of trouble the students get into. She had one young lady that for her essay searched different topics on the internet and copy and pasted entire paragraphs from different sources. So her essay was made of up of paragraphs from different sources and just thrown together. Apparently this was not her first time. She failed the class but was allowed to retake it the next year.

The biggest moment was this kid who was in her criminal justice class. He had copy and pasted an essay and then clicked on random words and used the thesaurus to change them. It was funny how awful they were. They have an automatic system that picks up plagiarism so obviously his test was flagged. This young man wanted to be a police officer. When confronted with this his response was "Yeah, I should have changed a few more words"

My wife went on a rant about ethics and integrity. From her time as a district attorney she had several officers that tried to create facts to support their case that actually torpedoed the whole case because they were caught lying. He still missed the point and complained about her. She was getting emails from this dumbass on our date night making of both of us pissed for a job that was losing us money. That's when she was done.
