Team Arena Summer Preview Feedback Thread

Regarding Stasis, I was able to get a sneak preview of it while I was picking up my shill money, and thank god because some slight revisions need to be made. I can obviously see they went for something different here, but I think change in-and-of-itself isn't great. There are a few quick changes I think need to be made if it's going to be used for HCS:

  • For starters, including a Warthog as the "power weapon" in the middle of the map is interesting, but it takes two people out of the game; at the very least this should be downgraded to a Gungoose, if not a Mongoose
  • I can appreciate trying to incorporate the Brute Plasma Rifle (it is the new weapon, after all), but I think 64 is just a little overkill; should probably halve that
  • Not entirely sure why Bottom Mid has a 10 second softkill barrier (since you'll already get shot if you stay down there longer than 10 seconds, it's more exposed than the Seattle Sounders defense)
  • [Strongholds] Four rocket launchers on the map can work in theory, but having teleporters between each of them just allows one person to stack them; I'd say remove the teleporters and have each be max ammo
  • [CTF] The Nornfangs should be replaced with one of the Binary Rifle tiers
  • [CTF] Having to do a perfect bum-jump to reach and pull the flag certainly promotes people having to learn the nuances of the movement mechanics, but it also results in needing to be double-jumped by a teammate in order to cap it; I'd opt for a stabilize crouch jump myself
  • [Assault] I know you want people to quickly figure out how to break out of your maps, and I guess having the ball spawn outside the map is one way to do it, but it seriously slows down gameplay

That's all I have for now, I'm sure I'll have more feedback when I get more than a couple of games on it.
