As an Ari fan, I think the blackfishing criticisms are valid and deserved. I do wish, however, that we'd be consistent with criticism towards celebrities when it comes to race (this isn't directed at you, just a thought about things I've observed in general). I've seen several people who constantly drag Ari for her tan and mannerisms, yet some of them didn't care at all about Camila's racist Tumblr posts or her half-assed apology. Brendon Urie is racist as fuckmakes a bunch of racist comments with no apology, yet he's widely loved and gets featured on a Taylor Swift song. Even if she means no harm, Ariana needs to be more aware of the issues she causes with blackfishing. But the Twitter stans who drag her because they see her as their fave's "competition" but then react with a shrug to other celebrities doing (sometimes worse) racist things get an eyeroll from me. Everyone deserves a callout when they handle race issues in a questionable manner.
