I’d like to think she only became a preacher because her grandmother wanted her to & all of the things she would inherit. I don’t think this is something she herself wanted. Mary is not your typical preacher. I’ve never seen such a poor representation of someone in her position. She constantly contradicts herself and goes against everything she preaches about.

I remember the s1 reunion Andy asks her if she was happy with her marriage and I could just see she was hurt. The response she gave seemed so disingenuous. I think her story is way darker than what it seems. Unfortunately she refused to open up more and we’ll never know why she is the way she is.
