They're really calling fish vegetarian now

tbh a lot of the people I know who are “vegetarian” eat some fish or shrimp. they’re technically pescatarian and will tell other vegetarians/vegans/friends/people they know that, but in the general population most people don’t know what pescatarian means so it’s just simpler to tell a waiter or whoever that you’re vegetarian. or saying “plant based” but that sounds kinda pretentious lol. Actually now that I think about it a lot of my pescatarian friends grew up in Catholic families so maybe there’s a bit of cultural influence there, with the tradition in Catholicism of abstaining from meat on various days…
