I’m having trouble finding clubs I like on campus to be honest. I thought ski club would be really cool but they don’t really do anything other than one big even and that requires you to miss a week of classes — that’s way to much when I’m taking 21 units.

I do enjoy campus rec clubs like martial arts and exercise classes, but these things don’t lead to a close knit community since they aren’t really the same as a club.

I think I’d enjoy Cricle K though, I should join that one. In a lot of ways UCI is a bad ‘fit’ for me culturally. I am different from most UCI students since I’m white and my family isn’t super broke, though I am a first generation college student, I don’t like the same music as most people do (I like pop-punk) and I grew up in the mostly white suburbs of Newark, Ca which is Northern California SF Bay Area. Newark isn’t mostly white anymore, but it was during childhood an my childhood friends were all white washed if they weren’t actually white.

And I say this as a far left wing progressive who voted for Bernie Sanders, I feel lightweight discrimination at UCI and in general find it hard to get to know people. This is primarily due to, I’d expect, differences in tastes from fashion, to music, to career choice. It’s not actually super great tbh.
