To those who played in the little league or was in a baseball team when you were a kid, how serious were your managers as in trying to win the game?

My son is in elementary school and he's at the level where the kid's pitch now but I have a story from when he was like seven and was in coach-pitch. His league was pretty intense and competitive which I think is stupid at that age but whatever and they where having I think the last game before the playoffs which determined the seeding(I know right), and it was in the last inning of the game and my son's team was tied and batting with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the inning, so if they score they win. In this scenario by the way my son was on second base I believe. For context some of the coaches in this league strictly put bad players in specific positions and the worst kids always played catcher. This is because there is no stealing, wild pitches, etc. and so it's not an important position except for plays at the plate which were rare. OK so because of the situation, the bases loaded and one out the catcher position was suddenly important and the other coach stopped the game, pulled his shortstop, had him switch gear with the catcher, and shuffled his players to put the catcher in right field or something. This is a baseball game for seven year olds. What struck me is that if the catcher understood what was happening it must have been humiliating. Basically the coach didn't think he could catch the ball if there was a ground ball and a potential force play at home. I'm glad my son hasn't had a coach like that, it's ridiculous. By the way it didn't matter, the next batter got a hit to the outfield and my son's team won.
