Today is International Be Kind to Lawyers Day

International Be Kind to Lawyers Day

A wonderful idea that I sent up to the chain to my Board of Directors. They responded that this only applies to interactions with "legal laypeople" (kind of smarmy if you ask me) and not interactions between attorneys.

Eventually, I pursued this all the way to SCOTUS and got them 4 votes (that fourth vote may or may not have involved footing an all-expenses-paid cross-country vacation to various Wal-Mart parking lots...but I concede nothing). Lost 5-4 with Roberts writing the majority opinion that "International Be Kind to Lawyers Day" was "merely aspirational" and therefore completely "nonbinding in these united States."

It was a nice thought. I tried. Now back to taking CLE courses on the mystery of declining mental health within the profession.

I appreciate you, fellow Redditor.
