Tomorrow I am speaking with the CEO of the company I am applying for, and I am lost

Tips; remember, you are at stage 3, the job is yours to loose at this point - you have already caught the ball - running it in to the n-zone is the easy bit (is it called an nzone in american football? im british)

Hand in your transcript - if the job your applying for is outside of the specialism you have studied it wont bear much weight at all - unless your grades are absolutely abysmal - in which case if you play your cards right is not a deal breaker

When being interviewed by 2 or more people it is important to divide your attention between them. Even if one is clearly superior to the other. Maintain constant eye contact with the superior, occasionally breaking it to gain eye contact with the lesser and then switching back. I may seem uncomfortable to spend 20-40 minutes starring directly in to the eyes of another person but it will subconsciously foster trust in them for you, if you cannot do this then maintain eye contact at the central part of the base of the forehead, just above the eyes, they wont know the difference - this sounds stupid but it works every single time. and during group interviews with multiple candidates you will notice that if you maintain eye contact - gradually the interviewer will begin to focus on you whenever he/she speaks garnering you their attention and raising your chances.

If you speak fast it is important to pace your words, imagine a monologue from one of you favourite films and think about the pace at which the actor delivers the lines, in order to cement understanding and interest in the points you make, you must pause frequently and naturally to give people time to absorb them, remember, it is a sad fact, but it is true that how you say something (tone, pitch, inflections, body language) is far more important that what you are actually saying. speak with confidence and authority - fake it if you have to, never forget that you are selling yourself, you are a product while at interview, what are your unique selling points? list, memorize and I gurantee you will be able to apply them to any question asked of you with abit of quick wit. remember it is absolutely fine, even a good thing to take 2-5 second to properly frame your responses as apose to saying "umm" "aahhh" "hmmm" -if you can summon an inquisitive look while thinking that is always a good thing.

Unless you work for nasa the single most important factor in hire-ability is likeability - you will be working in close confines with these people, they may not admit it, but if they dont like you, they wont hire you, if you make your interviewer genuinely laugh the job is yours

Body language is a real thing and not to be taken lightly , remember to smile, not a beaming smile, but a subtle content looking smile that will help to warm the interviewer against you- if sitting sit straight backed in the chair leaning your head slightly toward the interviewer to feign interest, nod & smile VERY slightly every time they make a point . put your hands in the lowered steeple stance and place them on the top of the desk (highlighted in this link) http://www.indiabix.com/body-language/hand-and-arm-gestures/ do not use the raised steeple and it will seem overconfident especially when being interviewed as this is the stance your interviewer will most likely take - DO NOT MIMMICK their body language, even if they dont notice, they will subconsciously and all of a sudden they wil become slightly frustrated and your questions become harder

if you are standing for some reason place your hands calmly at your side- do not put them in your pockets, stand straight, shoulders square,

you cant go wrong with a white shirt a pair of oxfords or brogues and either a grey or navy or blue trousers, jacket tie combo - it isnt a fashion show, you just need to be well presented

USE LOADS OF DEODRANT - you will be nervous- even if you hide it well - you will still sweat, literally cover yourself in deodrant as a failsafe - dripping pits and sweat marks half way through the interview is a bad bad thing, makes you look either nervous, dishonest or weak

REMEMBER - not matter what your brains tells you the world is a big place - there are always jobs - if you fail - you will get another chance with someone else - if this company interviewed you than their competition will as well as essentially they are all copies of eachother following the same rule book, just dressed in different colours - my point is dont to afraid to fail - it will hamper your performance if you are and you wont be at your best, there are plenty of fish in the sea

AND finally - if they wanted to hire a robit they would get one from microsoft - dont forgoet to be a human being - if they laugh - you laugh - if they offer you a drink take it. appear calm at all times - anxiety is the death of confidence

also - if you are negotiating your salary DO NOT TELL THEM YOU WILL ACCEPT LESS than the salary band- this is a drip in the ocean for them and they will see it as you having a low selth worth - if it is 32 - 38 for instance - take 36 and ask how the salary reviewing process works , this will imply that you are willing to work your way up, are a go getter and someone who ccan strive for what they want. if there is a commission - be happy about it- or pretend to - tell them you are money motivated and use that as a reason that you are willing to accept 36 as you know that commission is where you plan to make the real moneythe real money is - again this implies you are a self starter and a hard worker

REMEMBER you are a tool relative to the needs of the company - listen to what the manager is telling you - sometimes they practicaly answer their own questions - use your memorized uniqe selling points and apply them to which ever the most relevant and desirable attributes of the role are

i.e. interviewer says - here at blah blah blah we have a real focus on the social environment of our workplace

You - excellent , i am a real people person and i get along well with people from all walk of life, i also like going out for the occasional social with friends form work as its important for me to develop relationships with the peoplel i work with

Interviewer - we have a target system in place to maximise efficiency

you - ahh good, i am a person who enjoys working to targets, i am money motivated and i appreciate having all the statistics on my performance available to me so that I set personal goal son a daily , weekly and monthly basis

Examples of questions all interviewers ask for some reason and answers

interviewer - what would you say is your biggest weakness

you - okay , that a good question, hmm, 2- 4 seconds - i would say that sometimes i can be a bit of a perfectionist - i can spend to much time focusing on perfecting one aspect of something and loose sight of the bigger picture, but its something i am absolutely working on

explain your last job - explain it concisely - accentuate all parts relevent to the position you are going for, its all relative, employers dont wanna know about irrelevent experience

if you play a sport tell them or have any recreational hobbie, having passion is always a good thing and there is no better example of effective teamwork then playing in a sports team

honestly - im about done - if you actually read this - and if you would like to give me a bit of information about the sector of the position i.e. engineering , sales, customer service, size of company, account number and sort code (lol),

GOOD LUCK BRO - if you only do 2 of these things smile and follow the body language . it sounds dumb but i promise you that it has worked for me MANY times
