Should I lie about having children?

The cannabis packaging warehouse told me that "since those other obligations seem so important to you, maybe you should focus on those instead of working here." I said "I'm going to keep working here until you stop paying me." They said "You'll be off the payroll tomorrow."

One of the radio stations told me that they were "really inspired by [my] commitment to [my] family, but [my] 'unwillingness' to work overtime when asked is becoming a problem 'for the team". I asked where the mandatory overtime had been specified, and they said "No it's not mandatory, it's voluntary, but everyone is so passionate about what we do that everybody works overtime." I said "If most everyone works the voluntary overtime, surely you have adequate coverage." They replied, "yes, but it's really a company culture and values thing." I was fired the next day by a different person.
