TRCM: A tale of misguided optimism in a wasteland of fools

I work in a statehouse is one of the most enthusiastically fascist states in the country.

They proposed a resolution that basically says "Librarians can't sexually abuse kids in the course of their duties." And like cool, of course they can't, this bill means nothing.

But then the legislators stand up in committee or on the House floor, and spend hours and hours every day talking about what they're pretending what the bill will do, and what the bill represents, which is criminally arresting every librarian and every teacher in a school or library with inappropriate materials, which they informally define as sex ed books, or puberty books, or LGBT-friendly books.

Then the minority caucus stands up and says "Wait wait wait wait, we shouldn't imprison librarians for working in a library with books that tell pubescents about what they're experiencing, or books that include relatable coming of age stories" and the rest of the committees get to pander to their base by saying "aha, you support raping children, you degenerate satanist perverts! (btw donate and vote for me again next time if you don't like child rape)"

It's this endless fucking shitshow that the whole state is too fucking stupid to reject, even while their representatives siphon money and resources away from them and their children. But how do you fight it when they turn on their TV and see Hannity and Carlson describing the world to them as a hellscape (donate to the GOP), and they go to church and their pastors are stumping for the Republican party (donate to the GOP), and they hear teachers at their school are suggesting that maybe their kids shouldn't be bullying the gays and immigrants, which goes against every single ideal they hold dear?
