/u/Antranik describes his four year journey battling the LA Parking Violations Bureau... which is actually owned by the Xerox Corporation and not the City of Los Angeles

I found him! I knew I couldn't make a comment like that without someone like you going after it. It's like spot the vegan.

Nice how you slyly insinuate he's guilty (yet would a guilty guy really go through four years of Hell if he knew he was guilty, and, would a law firm reviewing the situation decide to represent him knowing this), to lead off your "argument" - handwaving, really - that when faceless corporations take over the responsibilities of the state, it's best to meekly bend over and accept the reaming that follows.

In my reading of the post, OP never mentioned his being guilty of the infraction or not. That, combined with him finally paying makes me think he knew he was guilty. I was not making any argument, especially not one that privatization of government responsibilities is a good thing, and that we should simply bend over and take it. My "hand waving" was trying to shed light on a dark corner, not have another argument on the Internet. My reference to me paying a parking ticket in Anaheim is the only thing I can think of that would remotely give you this idea. For the record, I did not fight it and paid the very small fine before late fees could pile up. Other people, who are more like the people I described as wanting to dispute all the legitimate tickets, did think I should fight it, though I was clearly in the wrong. These same people thought I should fight as long and as hard as OP. I disagreed and the issue was settled with minimal hassle.

OP might legitimately believe he was not in the wrong, that does not mean he was. In the end, some good may come out of OP fighting for so long. It looks like Xerox will change its policies, which I stayed. I also stated I wondered how long they would stay changed and how bad I thought I was that I had to think that.

Also nice how you make it about "some poor hourly employee" and not a vast contractor entity purposefully creating a system of no recourse, even for those innocent of charges, using the power of the state to coerce obedience in service to fattening the corporation's bottom line.

Yeah, I'm totally a paid shill. Let me ask you this, who has to deal with the screaming assholes pissed off because they got busted parked in a red overnight? It isn't the CEO of Xerox or Duncan. The board certainly won't put up with irate gang bangers, angry that their car is getting towed. No CFO is going to listen to some jackass who is pissed off about having to pay a $64 ticket, which he put off for two years, and is only now going to even acknowledge that he was ticketed (now that the fine is so much more costly). The person that has to hear about it IS an hourly shlub who has no influence on policy at all, who gets paid very little to be yelled at all day by the fine citizens of Inglewood.

In my post I did say the system is bad, in fact I called it illegal. Did you even read my post? Yours reads like /r/politics bingo. I really didn't intend to get into some debate with someone who has way too much free time over the Internet, yet here you are needing to cherry pick to try and come after me.
