Calm your tits: Weekly Rant Thread

MIL (calling her PP from here on out) is so goddamn selfish and spoiled, and gets to be so because nobody puts her in her place (lest they be forced to deal with Pout City all day). Everything has to be about her, too. 5-year-old DD opening a gift of slippers from her aunt for Christmas last year? PP must sigh and mention how SHE wanted to get her granddaughter slippers, but didn't know what size (she did). This Christmas, SIL (same woman) came over with BIL to give us a gift basket for our upcoming baby. What does PP do? Hovers and grabs at everything I'm trying to unpack and fawn over instead of letting me and DH enjoy the gifts in peace. Then not two minutes later, has to make a big show of giving us what she had picked out for the baby (I'm NOT ungrateful for this at all...she just very obviously needs to be the center of attention 24/7 and that's exactly what this was). A few days later into our visit, DH and I are sitting at the table playing a board game while MIL watched. I received a FB message from my angel of a grandmother saying she had bought us the pack and play off of our wishlist. I look at DH and say something to the effect of "How sweet, Grandma just ordered the pack and play for us! How nice of her!" And of course, without skipping a beat, a sour look crosses PP's face and she says "Well I don't know what to get you guys because you had several different things on there." She has to be involved with EVERYTHING, and even more so whenever I'm pregnant. It's not about generosity with her, it's about winning some game she's convinced exists. It's maddening.

Sorry for the wall of text. When I get to ranting about PP, it's hard to stop.
