Do you think the UFC is attracting the best athletic talent?

Not even close, and it won't be that way until the money is there, even if it's just at the top for awhile.

I was going to start a thread regarding why I thought the UFC had already put the nail in the coffin on their supremacy as the leader of the sport but I might as well just post it here seeing as this is a close enough discussion.

However, It's not just the money, but also the drug testing and how stringent USADA is.

The whole idea of having to give your whereabouts to them, allow them to show up wherever you are, no matter what you're doing, stop whatever that is and piss in a cup for them is a bit much I think.

Coupled with the shittiest sponsorship deal we've seen to date from any sports organization and I don't see how the UFC will retain talent.

I know the easy answer is for them to just open up the coffers and actually start paying the fighters properly but I feel like that time has already come and gone. Dana has proven that the UFC runs on a personal, strictly promotional level, where if you're not bringing in the numbers, you're going to be left behind.

In any other sports organization this wouldn't be a big deal, seeing as you would have your salary to rely on, but if you're not fighting you're not getting paid, so it is in fact a huge problem.

I think the UFC has to do a complete 180 on their business practices right now and do the things they said that sounded so enticing in the first place.

Have a structure which sees who gets title shots and when, instead of playing favourites, like boxing does.

Fix the Reebok deal, and in the meantime get rid of the logo ridden mat, and keep the sponsors on the cage itself. Or, split that sponsorship money with the fighters who are on the card that night.

Fix the PFP list, and implement a system which Maia was alluding too. I think it would be fairly simple. Award each fighter on the roster a beginning point total, let's say 50. For each fight finished the fighter gains 3 points. +1 point for every round negative to the total of rounds in the fight. The winner of the fight also gets +0.5 for every point the loser had above them or something of that matter. I really don't think it would be that hard to figure out.
