United Makes It Easier for Families to Sit Together

We just flew a few weeks ago and always have to buy tickets separately because we use credits miles money etc so always have to do it on the phone because you can’t book an under 12 ticket solo on the website. So we are usually all under different reservations then have a nightmare time at the airport trying to move at least one of us next to a kid. We’ve never had a problem until a few weeks ago heading to Florida and they refused to move our kids next to us. They said there was no way to do it so after lots of debating we had to sit a couple rows up from the kids. No one would switch as it was to Orlando so everyone wanted to be sitting with their families. My kids are 5 and 7. I could not believe that we then had to consistently ask for pass backs of all the people in between. Bothering the person in their row to hand them things. Constantly playing telephone the whole flight. It was awful I still can’t believe I they made us do that and none of our tickets were basic and we have premier platinum (not that that means anything) but because we are on different reservations couldn’t pick their seats with us. I’m really not certain that this new announcement will help us in any way unless we book tickets together.
