UPDATE - AITA for not financially helping family and friends - despite being able to?

This is a common mentality but people do not exactly come here with normal issues and relationships. Also, people that come here drop few paragraphs from their perspective on the issue. For example, OP. It is not very common for a family not to try to save the life of a child because another one can be born.

Family that is not there for your worst times, why would you want them for your best times? But we have to judge on few paragraphs, not decades of relationship. And we are judging based on our values, generally western values since most demographic is from the west.

Maybe this place is ran by teenagers, I always find odd the judgments on parents saving money for their kid and it is kid's money automatically, but many judgements are spot on. And I am 32 with pretty horrible family dinemics. I wish I met some of these seventeen years olds 15 years ago. Would have saved myself and my mother a lot of grief. I am pro helping family and people in general but I am against being exploited. Life is too short to be to be exploited and miserable. Unless you gain pleasure from it... then you do you.
