[VIDEO] Minnesota: High school runner disqualified for helping foe

I'll pay devils advocate here. I've seen plenty of races where people are stumbling to the finish, just as she was, and right as they cross the finish line, are tended to by race staff and/or medical personnel. We're they really suffering a 'medical emergency?' Which by definition, means they need to be rushed to the hospital? I'd argue no, they are suffering from extreme fatigue but could be dealt with on site.

Now I'm not saying that 100% this was the same case, but I think that would be enough for me to stop, and wait, and think that maybe she can finish this race on her own. Now if she collapsed and didn't get up, or stopped moving, then hell yes I would be on her in a heartbeat. But it seemed like if she could really just stumble to the finish, which was less than 100 yards away, she would be fine.

I don't think any of us should armchair speculate from our internet stations, this is a big time event for these kids and sure, it's not the olympics like another poster said, but it sure may feel like it to them.
