Virtual reality and fear of heights

Like what's been covered in numerous comments the fact that it isn't real doesn't really change things that much, because it's not the reasoning logical part of your brain that's in control of the response. It's kind of like some people feeling afraid while watching horror movies, it's not that they actually think that supernatural things will jump out from the TV & get them.

I don't really understand what consenting to put the VR headset on has anything to do with anything. If I consent to A i also consent to an unrelated thing B by proxy? It kind of feels like if someone gets their car run over by an 18 wheeler while inside it's their fault because they consented to be in the car in the first place?
