The Votes are in: Recreational Cannabis is Now Legal in These States

There are significant restrictions to alcohol despite its legal status. In some states, if you’re a resident, it’s technically illegal to travel out of state and buy booze with the intent to bring it back into your home state to drink.

That law exists in some states to prevent border residents from buying booze in a state where taxes might be lower. That said, good luck proving that. But the law exists.

Distilling alcohol for your own consumption is even illegal in most areas. There are still dry counties in the US today.

Regulation around alcohol is everywhere

I think there is a fine line the state has to walk here.

The legalization of marijuana does not intend to allow private citizens the right to cultivate and sell without a permit just like a brewery isn’t allowed to sell alcohol without adhering to regulations.

The limit is intended to allow users to be in possession of a reasonable amount of weed. I have smoked on a daily basis and gone through about 3.5g in 10-14 days. The 1.5oz limit is over 10x that.

I understand users can have a high tolerance, but you are not smoking 1.5oz even at high tolerance or medical consumption safely if you’re burning through that much in less than 7 days. That’s a T break and a wallet break wake up call.

As for “what if I’m buying for friends”, it’s 1.5oz per person. You could have 4 friends with 6oz between them and it’s perfectly legal now.

1oz is what my friends buy as a supply for a month or longer. You’re only going to be needing more if you’re planning on distribution.

you might think I’m hating on private sale or stigmatizing dealers, but really I’m just tired of having to play roulette every time I buy to see if I got good product or some crappy private dealer selling subpar product that they can pawn off well above its worth just because it’s still technically illegal.
