I bought my engagement ring for $15 on ebay, I think. It's CZ and rhodium plated, not new anymore, and still looks like a fancy vintage diamond ring. No one has ever questioned its authenticity. I told my husband that if it starts looking grody we just buy a new one. I can afford to have spares in different sizes because I get swollen fingers from arthritis.

I told him not to do anything expensive, and we eloped. I don't want to deal with that shit. Having more than 1k on my finger would freak me out. It would be a distracting burden, IMO.
