[discussion] Do you ever regret getting your dog?

I was DYING to get a dog as soon as I got to school. It was really hard for me but I held off. Near my final year I felt like maybe I was ready. Then BOOM I got a surprise 6 month internship abroad. If I had a dog I could have left them with my parents, but that would have been really hard for me. I would probably have chosen not to go abroad. I had my fun over seas and then continued to move around spontaneously after college since my internship gave me a travel bug. Once I felt at home and settled in, I got my pup at 27. I am KICKING myself that I didn’t get a dog sooner. I spent time as a dog walker to fill the void, but having my own dog is the best thing ever!! I know everything worked out how it was supposed to because I ADORE my sweet pup and can’t imagine any other dog being in her place. But had I been able to have her for those years instead of traveling?? I dunno, tough choice!!! Looking back at the fun memories verse this fantastic companion, I think I would have chosen her! I still plan to do lots of traveling in my life, but a lot of the time I’m just happy to hang out with my pup :)
