US wants to ban TikTok, what are your thoughts?

My GF's tiktok resets to a base Chinese one no matter what she likes/views or interacts with. She's never been to China but her app just seems to stay on Chinese mode.

It is very different to how we have it in the West. All wholesome cooking videos, cute cat videos, and a lot of informative and educational content (albeit in Mandarin which we don't understand).

I work worldwide so my tiktok feed is wild and changes based on country. Right now I'm in Qatar and World Cup videos aside HOLY HELL their tiktok creates an obsession with money, power and luxury branding. I'm not a brands kinda guy, I don't understand crypto etc, but literally every other video out here is about wealth management, where to invest, or pushing designer brands. Regardless of your opinions on Andrew Tate, he was right when he said "follow the money" or "go where the money is" because that's the culture here.

I was in Jamaica with the gf and whilst hers remained Chinese, my tiktok went all heavily Christian (and surprisingly nothing weed related) despite being atheist.
