Asian families absolutely detest video games.

The greed part is not necessarily true. Asian families value financial stability and view it as success. They want that for their children and they want their children to be better off than them. It's one of the reasons I went into accounting and my older brother went into electric engineering until we both realized that we hated what we were doing and it was miserable. After nearly a decade of battling, animosity, resentment, etc, we've gotten a lot closer as a family and more personal.

Asian families also really value and pressure marrying and having kids. This is speculation but I can imagine it not being too far off; after DL's brother broke up with his long time girlfriend, his parents were probably mad at him and attacked him. The stress and resentment, likely building up and bottled since childhold, pushed him over.
