WEEKLY RECRUITING THREAD - Ask here about the recruiting process, trade availability, requirements to join, and other common questions about the Canadian Armed Forces.

I will try to ask this in the least offensively way, please understand the general populations "idea" of the job.. My question is, is there a place in the infantry for a person. 25 years old. With, and this is the offensiveish part, above average intelligence. Is there the mental stimulation like planning, doing, being a part of something that's going on. Would joining in the infantry at that age be a dead end? Could I guy progress to a point of being a part of "special" operations or would that be reserved for people with more experience and age on their side. Is it more then just being yelled at and mindlessly following orders.. I like to do, I like to be a part of something. Be on the front of current conflicts. Have the excitement, as much of it as humanly possible. I have my grade 12, unfortunately my marks weren't great, I passed my cfat requirements to move on to pilot through the college degree in Toronto. Unfortunately to do so I need to upgrade my courses. Which I'm willing to do. But I would like to get out of manitoba as soon as possible. And as you know if I continue with this pilot direction the odds are not in my favour. It is a tough field to get into especially where you want to be. The reward is great however. I don't want to be something like signals or Those kinds of fields because I want excitement. The most I can get. Is that available for me in the infantry. Can I do anything anyone else can joining at that age. I am smart and I am an extremely hard worker. It's just hard to draw the line between the TV or movie highlights and real life. And people that don't understand that just consider infantry mindless grunts. I do not believe that, I just don't know anyone in the military that is like me. I don't know where I fit and the recruitment pages and the recruiters don't seem to give me the answers I'm looking for. I'm very driven. And I like to think.
