You can write a reference letter without providing support (ie only facts about his service).

If it was any other job, then I would agree with you, but as someone who is serving as a general then I don't see what other alternative we would have.

Who would want to be under the command of this person (or the other people mentioned in the article such as Adair)? Where else would we put this person to work?

As a military that's pushing hard on its troops the significance of OP Honour, how can any of us trust these leaders when they've repeatedly shown that they can't or won't actually prioritize that despite all their speeches/e-mails/etc. saying that they care.

I've lost any confidence that I've had for Eyre considering his first move was just to move the posting forward, and only put Dawe on leave after another media storm (which will likely just lead to Dawe getting re-instated later on anyways once this all blows over).
