Welcome To Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away.

Welcome to Charlotte! (Potentially). My wife and I just moved up here from Tampa last fall. We love it so far! So much to do and the weather makes things outdoor much more comfortable.

Sounds like where you're going to be staying isn't really walkable, so you'll want to drive or uber. I don't know what days you'll be here, but http://www.charlottesgotalot.com/events is surprisingly thorough.

If it's not a weekend, I'm not sure what's going on for outdoor events, but if you like beer Sycamore and Olde Mecklenburg breweries have nice outdoor spaces, and Freedom Park is always nice to walk around. I can't help regarding clubs/flea markets/the arts.

Casual dining really depends on what you're looking for. Macs Speed Shop on South is a pretty solid casual bbq with a nice outdoor space (not great bbq by any stretch, but surprisingly there isn't any awesome bbq in town). For burgers we really like Bad Daddies in Dilworth. For restaurants that are also a bar area, the Montford area has some great options.

Tupelo Honey is great for breakfast, as is Amelie's.

I'm not as familiar with noda or midwood, but both are worth checking out as well, with lots of food and bar options.

If you like baseball at all, the Knights have one of the nicest stadiums in minor league.

Checking out any of these previous threads should find some info on stuff to see/descriptions of the areas as well.

A day and a half isn't a ton of time, when we did our weekend trip up here to check it out we mostly drove around the area and became familiar with the areas we may want to move (we stuck to the southern part of town based on my previous research). Ended up renting in south end for the walkability/ ease of get uptown until we decide where to buy.

This got way long and is all over the place, but I hope it helps.
